The Whisky Drop

Maker's x Keeneland Bottle Series

Delivering – and developing – a direct-to-consumer bourbon experience as distinctive and iconic as the brand itself.

THE CHALLENGE:

In 1958, Keeneland served Maker’s Mark® from the first cases ever sold. This began a longtime partnership that would go on to raise millions for Kentucky communities, continuing today with the current Greats of the Gate series. We’ve collaborated on a commemorative bottle each year since 1997, helping many Bluegrass causes.

COMPONENTS:

+Box Designs
+Insert Materials
+Program Name
+Logo Lockup
+Custom Illustrations
+Shipper Packaging
+Insert Card
+Landing Page

THE RESULT:

Developed a base design to span a decade. We handcrafted every nuance of the consumer experience – the program itself, the packaging, the custom web build – to be as rich and rewarding as the bourbon it delivers. This special release included a collaboration for the illustration by Kentucky artist Tyler Robertson.

Proceeds from each year’s Greats of the Gate bottle will benefit nonprofits that support Kentucky culture, including the horseracing industry, hospitality, and the arts. Over the course of this series, Keeneland and Maker’s Mark are committed to raising $4 million for various Kentucky nonprofit organizations. For the first three years, the “Greats of the Gate” bottle will support Kentucky Classic Arts, Kentucky Harvest, Arts Center of the Bluegrass, and Blue Grass Farms Charities.
